Growth Group Questions — Romans 3:21–26

Main Idea: I could not rescue myself. Jesus took my place. By faith, I now belong to him.

CONNECT

1. Describe a time when you needed someone to help, rescue, or carry you through something you could not handle alone. What made receiving that help easy or difficult?

2. Why are we tempted to measure our goodness by comparing ourselves with other people? How does Romans 3:23 challenge that habit?

GROW

3. Read Romans 3:21–23. Verse 21 begins with two important words: “But now.” How do those words change the direction of the passage and reveal God’s response to people who cannot make themselves righteous?

4. Read Romans 3:23–24. To be justified means to be declared righteous. How is receiving Christ’s righteousness different from trying to prove that you are good enough?

5. Read Hebrews 10:4 and 2 Corinthians 5:21. What did Jesus accomplish that animal sacrifices and our personal efforts never could? How does this affect the way you face your own guilt?

SERVE

6. How should remembering that we needed to be rescued shape the way we notice, welcome, and serve people who do not yet believe? What is one practical way you can point someone toward Jesus this week without acting morally superior to them?
